This book was a joy to read, Anton captures the atmosphere of the time perfectly. I was transported back to my childhood with his description of a snowy winter. The story is set in the year 1938 with all the tensions of that time which we can relate to now as we have tensions to deal with.
The characters are all very believable going about their daily lives making plans for the future which they might not have. There are several storylines to follow and Anton isn't afraid to touch on controversial subjects. I'm sure there will be a follow on book to let us know what happens to the characters. This is one of the fastest books I've read as I couldn't put it down. The cover is amazing, I felt myself standing outside with the snow falling looking in through the window at a beautiful Christmas scene. This book definitely needs to go on your Christmas list.
