This is the second book by Anton de Beke that I have won from Readers First (I must admit I hadn't actually realised he wrote books as well as danced)! In previous years I might have been a little bit grumpy about Christmas books being published in October when we haven't even had halloween or bonfire night, but given the stress of the last eight months it feels quite welcome to get a Christmas book to read! This is the third in the series so the characters will be familiar if you have had the opportunity to read these. I don't think it is essential to have read them but it does give you some information about the key characters and perhaps makes them a little better rounded and more three dimensional. This was an enjoyable read which perhaps I wouldn't have chosen to purchase but am glad that I had the opportunity to read. This series would make a good gift for a relative who enjoys some escapism and the chance to engage with and get to know a decent cast of characters.
