This is the third book in this series and just as enjoyable as the previous ones. Set in the late 1930s it starts more than a year before war will break out. The main characters from the previous books are all here and we see the trials and tribulations of the staff at Mayfairs Buckingham Hotel. We have a troupe of visiting dancers from Austria, the death of a young man, pregnancy, a wedding and dancing, which would be expected from this author!
I enjoyed the story, which has the the romance between the two main protagonists at the forefront, but running alongside it is the threat of the facists and Hitler's march through Europe. Neville Chamberlain is maintaining that peace can be brokered with Hitler without going to war, but the security services are not hedging their bets and once again enrol the help of the staff at the hotel to learn the secrets of the guests. The story lines are not unbelievable and are well rounded.
