I hadn't realised that Anton Du Beke's books were a series so I hadn't read the first two yet despite really wanting to, and after reading this I am definitely putting them on my Christmas list :)
I don't think it impacted my experience too much not having read the other books in the series, although it did feel a bit like I was a new kid in the group initially, but I definitely wouldn't say you have to have read the other books to enjoy this one.
This book was really good because it's a story first and a Christmas story second. It's a perfect book to curl up with on the sofa with a blanket and hot chocolate during the winter months. The characters are well established and fleshed out and the story flows at a good pace. There is such a sense of empathy with the characters that you can't help but really care about them and how their story will unfold.
The Buckingham Hotel is a wonderful setting and again I can't wait to go back and read the other books.
