I had never read any books by this author before so did not know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised - I thoroughly enjoyed it and will certainly keep an eye open to look for other books. A lovely old fashioned love story with a few twists and turns. Set in Cornwall in 1798, Amelia Carew was awaiting the return of her fiance, Midshipman Edmund Melville. After many years, Amelia is led to believe that he has died whilst at sea and has fallen in love with a Doctor, Luke Bohenna. The three main characters were very believable and I loved the style of writing which was so easy to read with no complications. However, Edmund does return but his character is very much changed and Amelia is torn between trying to nurse him back to how he was or abandoning him and staying with Luke. You will need to read the book yourself if you want to find out what happens. Very readable and very enjoyable.
