I was pleasantly surprised by this book! From the cover I didn't expect much from it or that it would be a book I would enjoy reading but I was wrong! My sister persuaded me to read it and she was right, I fair enjoyed it! The story has much more to it than I expected and I got really into it. The story is about Amelia who's first love goes missing at sea. Eventually she makes a new life, a new love and a new potential career as a herbalist for the local hospital but then Edmund returns....what should Amelia do when she loves two men? In addition someone is peddaling dangerous potions to locals and needs to be stopped. I found the book interesting from the perspective of reading about Navy life in the 19th century. There is lots of rich description. All I would say is that in places there is perhaps a little too much detail and I found some elements of the story a little repetitive. However, overall I enjoyed this book much more than expected so don't be put off by the cover!
