A Darker State is the third book in David Young's 1970s series set in East Germany and it is another outstanding book.
The story, as with the 2 previous books, stars Karin Muller and whilst it follows on from the previous book it can be read either in order or as a standalone novel.
The writing is crisp and the story has clearly been well researched which gives the book a very authentic feel.
The book draws you in and makes you want to read just one more chapter as
Muller and her colleagues don't know who exactly is on their side which adds to the story and provides some twists and turns.
This series has become one of my favourite and is a must read. Fully recommended. You won't be disappointed
