I was so excited to receive my copy of A House of Ghosts ! The cover is absolutely beautiful , with it's stark black and shiny gold details . Very like a Victorian black and white line drawing .
The book is a scary blend of horror and "whodunnit "
The scene is set , the cast is assembled and you the readers are left in anticipation of what will follow .
Not everyone is what they seem . Are the mediums fake or genuine ? Can they also see the spirits which plague Kate ? Who is Donovan really and what is the mysterious Room 40 for whom they both seem to work for ?
Set during the latter part of the first world war there is also an element of spy thriller adding to the mix . From the first seance held the atmosphere builds and builds .
In an old house , full of secret passages a deadly game of cat and mouse begins . With no contact or access to the mainland the household is on it's own . Apart from the ghosts that is !
