I’ve never read an Anne Holt book before, but crime/thriller novels are my absolute favourite genre. I love that the premise of this book has a double mystery. Who was the intended target? And who shot the gun/what was their reasoning? When reading the first impression the main thing that jumped out at me was the way that Anne sets the scene with the use of dates. I really like it when books involve something like this, it really helps the reader to be fully grounded in what is happening when. Especially if the author wishes to jump between time periods.
I really love the cover! It’s both haunting and beautiful and really portrays that this is a crime book. It is also perfect for this time of year and feels very atmospheric!
