Fantastic opening chapter that really grabs your attention and is going to be in the back of your mind throughout the book. The murder Selma witnesses throws up all sorts of questions and I loved how the author piled on the unsettling atmosphere when Selma returns home. Brief references to her back story make the book accessible for new readers.
