A Memory for Murder follows Selma Falck, a Norwegian lawyer turned PI (and something of a local celebrity) as she and her best friend are shot.

Unclear as to who was the intended victim, as Selma works with the police and further suspicious deaths start to occur, the mystery deepens.

This is the third book in the Selma Falck series. Having not read the previous two books unfortunately I really couldn’t relate to the main character. She seems to have many demons to deal with while at the same time treating the other characters with what borders on contempt. Without understanding the history between the characters this did detract from my enjoyment.

At times the plot became quite difficult to follow as it jumped between different strands. It is also heavily placed in the Norwegian political landscape which, while interesting, made some of the motivation hard to relate to.

Overall an enjoyable read and extremely well written if you like the style.
