The story opens with tragedy when Selma's friend is shot and killed when the group of three friends meet in a cafe.
The reason for the shooting is not known.... was it a targeted assassination, or a random shooting? Was Selma the real target?
As the body count rises, we discover more about Selma's discordant family and her physical, mental and emotional struggles following her injury and hospitalisation after a previous case put her in a lifethreatening position.
As we are introduced to the other players in in story, we are constantly encouraged to change our minds as to who has what secret , who is guilty, and who is innocent.
There are many likeable (and less likeable!) characters and the author builds and keeps a great level of tension as the tale progresses.
