Opinions of a reader who haven't read the first two books
I guess its customary to start with the first and foremost impression giver : the title, "A Memory for Murder." As we can all agree, it goes without saying that the title is rather eye-catching and demands attention right away. It grips you, in the sense that it allows once thoughts to wander and form a prediction of why "memories", often correlated with positive images of the past than negative, while narrowing it down to a murder. One would even argue why would one ever remember a murder, not once, but numerously, and what role the protagonist plays. So, enough said, the title itself invokes such mystery and intrigue in the leader, which I really wanted to focus on.
Now, looking back to the sample, the story itself definitely lives up to the high expectations that the title itself gives out. Personally, I really love the author's tone and would definitely read on!
