Whilst I can't claim to be into true crime the way I know a lot of keen readers and podcast listeners are, I do have a passing interest and was surprised I hadn't heard of this truly gruesome tale.

We often don't think of the UK as having many serial killers in the same way that somewhere like America does for example. But in this book, it is evident that an apparently loving and normal upbringing doesn't mean that a person won't turn out rotten.

This book is very well written. Besides a few bits at the end which I wasn't personally so interested in, the book kept my attention for its entirety. It was built up without being melodramatic and was truly a riveting read. I particularly liked how the author provides us with a relatively balanced view, discussing the case as a part of it's larger circumstances and including insights from Young's loved ones and victims.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone interested in true crime. Startling, intriguing and a really good read.
