I must admit I haven't read this books predecessor but it's definitely one I'd love to add to my tbr! After reading the synopsis of this book I was instantly hooked, the concept is interesting and I'd love to read more. It sounds like a historical fiction intertwined with a mystery which is a style of book I've never read before.
