This a secret view of the part that the lesser known royals possibly (or not) may have played in the attempt to avert the path of war. Inner perspectives and the outward appearance is uppermost in the character's mind and this makes for an interesting read so far.
The second chapter focuses on an American university Professor who shares a train journey with a former pupil of some years ago. All is not as it appears, as it seems the former pupil is burdened with a secret he wishes to unload and had chosen this professor for a reason...
We now enter the world of MI5 in this period and learn incidences that actually occurred and possibly how they may have had a greater impact on world events than we are ever likely to learn of.
A good read which I have taken my time to complete (it is a hefty book). Nevertheless one which has been an enjoyable experience.
