I was first introduced to Rory Clement's through 'Nemesis', part of the Tom Wilde series, and later 'Hitler's Secret'. A Prince and a Spy is the fifth book in the Wilde series, and it does not disappoint. These books may have an overarching theme of wartime Britain, mystery and death, but they also stand alone as great books on their own merit, which is important for any author to be able to do. I have sought out Clement's other books, and he is an author truly on my radar now.

The author has the gift of being able to combine real places and incidents the fictional world of his (very believable) characters, conducted in exciting and relatable ways through his recurring characters and their quests. Like most of the author's books, it gets straight into the action at the start and sets up a series of mysteries that the plot, and characters, attempt to solve. Although it is a weighty tome, it does not feel this way once you get into the story as it is a real page turner which can be finished reasonably quickly, as with all good books of this kind and I look forward to the next of Wilde's adventures.
