I adored the previous book in this series so was very excited to read this one. I was not disappointed.

Clements writes so well it is a pleasure to read. The characters are well formed and it is always good to find out what new adventures Tom Wilde, Cambridge don and American agent, is having!

In this instalment Wilde is forced away from his Lydia and his son sooner than expected (although let’s be honest he should have expected it) and sent on an expedition to Scotland to discover the cause of a high profile death.

As you would expect Wilde finds himself caught in the middle of a spy battle, and has to work out who to trust and how they are all connected!

It can be confusing to try to keep up with all the double crossing but it is a riveting read.

Lydia had a very minor role this time which was somewhat disappointing but I enjoyed her contribution.

Strong characters and a great plot. Very enjoyable!
