I’m not usually one for spy thrillers but I love historical fiction so when I saw A Prince and A Spy sitting on a shelf in Waterstones I just knew I had to buy it. Let me say I definitely was not disappointed with this being my first spy thriller! It is an absolutely gripping story based on a true story. It spans all the way from Hitler’s Third Reich up to the centre of the British Monarchy. In 1942, Prince George, Duke of Kent was killed in a wartime plane crash which was widely considered an accident but some suspect nefarious actions were involved and this is the real starting point for the book. Rory Clements really weaves such a deeply intricate story based on deception, deceit and lies. It truly was such an incredible page turner and I found that I was not able to put the book down at all! I would recommend this to fans of historical fiction and thrillers, you won’t be disappointed!
