Just right for this time of year, basically a romance set in 1940 wartime Britain in the thick of nightly bombings which carried on for months on end. The style is easy to read and entertaining, including a variety of characters from East End London of the time. Some shady and some trying to be law-abiding with a thread of love and romance woven through the story. The main Characters are from two families, who would have nothing to do with each other, with very little money but a lot of grit and determination. The two main characters, Tommy and Jo are trying to connect themselves and their families. The story is well researched with regard to the times and jobs people would have had and includes some very sad incidents along with ones which make you smile. The tale works towards Christmas and just in to the New Year.
