This book was interesting as it dealt with how the lives of women changed during and after the Second World War but done in a very clever way, through their working lives and relationships. It reminded me of stories my mum told me about how women were no longer just housewives at home but actually went out to work .There were good times and bad in this book but then that is true to life. The characters were believable and real with some I liked and some I did not. It solidified a time in history that is long gone but which changed the lives of women forever.I am someone who as a child remembers being taken to Woolworths so it offered me a sense of nostalgia too good to miss. It is worth a read.
