Set in war torn London in 1940 A Ration Book Christmas is a story of love and devotion. Tommy Sweete is sweet on Jo Brogan but as he is associated with a notorious criminal gang led by his brother Reggie and she is a Paddy with a fearsome overprotective father their love seems doomed from the start.
With them both involved in the war effort, will their love survive?
The story is mainly about Tommy and Jo but I had a great affinity for some of the secondary characters especially the Irish granny Queenie and Francesca. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Francesca and had her find love with the object of her affections.
Overall, this is easy to read and is a nice heartwarming story for the festive season.
