I love this series of war time stories. As soon as I saw the cover, I knew it would be another great novel by Jean Fullerton. The covers are so identifiable, you can immediately recognise what the story us about. Despite it being a series where all the books connect, not having read any of them won't affect this story, its a great stand alone book too.

It felt so easy to slip into the story's world, it feels like your living alongside the characters. The descriptive writing pulls you in and makes it so easy to imagine what it would have been like.

I can't wait to find out what will happen, if Cathy will become a single mother, a widow, or if her husband will return.

I love the era the book is set in, and after the rise of programs such as call the midwiife, I think war and post-war life in London's east end has become a popular genre, and I can see a wide audience enjoy this book!
