Jean Fullerton has produced another lovely tale of life in the East End during the war. This book is a story of family, love, and life during the horrors of wartime.

Cathy's was in an abusive relationship with her husband, but now he has gone off to fight in the war, leaving his wife; Cathy and their son Peter sharing a house with his mother. One day a telegram arrives saying that Cathy's husband Stanley is missing in action and if there is no news within six months he will be declared dead. For Cathy this is a dream of escape from this relationship and she begins to count down the days. Cathy's mother in law has never liked Cathy and makes life as hard as she can for her daughter in law. After advertising for a lodger, to help pay the bills, Archie arrives into her life. They are mutually attracted to each other and Cathy feels that the man of her dreams has arrived on the scene, they plan to spend their life together but things don't always work out as planned..........

I really enjoyed reading this book, it is really touching and heartwarming.
