I've read other Jean Fullerton books before and this book didn't disappoint. It's an easy read with one of the main characters being Queenie Brogan from an Irish Travellers family. It takes you through both when she was a young teenager in Ireland to the final months of WWII in London.
You find out about her early life and that of her friend, Patrick Mahon who later becomes a priest and how their lives separate and then come together when they have both moved to London and find they are living fairly close to one-another.
Queenie marries a man named Fergus and goes on to have children and grandchildren. The story revolves around these characters and their lives which are all are closely linked.
Patrick has always been the love of Queenies life and when Patrick become unwell his sister arrives to look after him. This causes upset as there has always been a rift between the two women. I found this book really enjoyable and would recommend it.
