I don't normally like books that are set in time, but i really enjoyed this one and was glad when everything turned out alright. So glad Francessa and Charlie got together in the end i really thought she would go off with the Count Leo as he had the money and seemed like he could look after her and that's what her Dad wanted. It was interesting reading about the BBC as well, as i didn't realise that they did news reports back then to other countries. I like the feel of the book it was easy to read, wasn't confusing you knew who all the characters where and how they related to each other, you presume they are older than they seem, especially when Charlies mum found out she was pregnant yet she was only in her forties. I'm hoping there is more of these books to read as i'd love to know how things turned out and if Charlie got out of the Army to his new born baby.
