I enjoyed catching up with the Brogan family’s saga in the East End of London during World War ll. I have read the three previous books in the series and have enjoyed each one immensely.
This one mainly featured Francesca and Charlie Brogan although the reader is also reacquainted with the lives of Jeremiah, Ida, Queenie and all the Brogan children who featured in the earlier books. I get the feeling that Jean Fullerton has thoroughly researched the places and times she writes about which makes the story vivid and realistic for the reader. In this book, she describes the workings of the BBC and the broadcasting of World Service programmes during the war.
I really think these books would make a good soap opera.
I have only awarded 4 stars as, once again, my enjoyment in reading the book was spoilt by the numerous typos and other errors contained within the text. How can a book get to actually be printed without somebody spotting these and correcting them. Sloppy proof reading and editing Corvus!
