Looking at the cover of this book I thought this would be a little bit too twee for my tastes, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a romance novel but the author is clearly well read in her chosen subject, which gives the reader a much more rounded picture of wartime London and gave the characters a richness that otherwise would have left the book lacking. There are quite a lot of characters, but because each one was distinctive I didn't struggle to keep track of everyone.

I found I was picking up this book whenever I had a spare moment, it was the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee on a lazy afternoon. It was also very easy to pick up where you left off if, like me, finding large periods of time to read is near impossible. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
