Erlan Aurvandil has pledged his sword to King Sviggar and join the fight against the Danes and King Wartooth. But Erlan has fallen for the princess and longs to run away with her but she is promised to someone else, a promise of peace with a wedding. Betrayal, murder and loss haunt everyone but just who will Erlan fight with in the end.
This was so good. It's not usually my sort of book but wanted to give it a try. I really enjoyed it. The plot was slow and steady but built well. It's a long book and a bit gory in places but it didn't bother me. The ending was really good and just how I expected it to end though especially what happened to Saldas.
I loved Erlan right from the beginning. You know he's got a dark, haunted past but it makes you want to know more. I loved Lilla's strength and courage as well.
