If I'm being completely honest the cover didn't immediately attract me to this novel. It wasn't until I began to read the blurb that I started to believe that this was a novel which I could be interested in reading. The genre of the novel isn't something I would normally read, as I am a huge thriller fan. However it's always nice to have a break with something more uplifting, as too much darkness and murder can't be good for no one.

When reading the extract I felt intrigued, the main character is quite quirky. The family of the main character is even stranger, with most of them having psychological phobias over one thing or another. Yet I feel this is actually something which should be written about more, due to the fact phobias can be consider a mental illness once things have developed to a severe length. This only made me captivated more, as I am hoping to become a mental health nurse so this is something which interests me.

Back to the extract I felt that it was very well written and beautifully descriptive. In fact I couldn't stop scrolling, I wanted to read more and more. Yet sadly the extract came to an end. The extract had little details which made it even more imaginative, such as describing the exact time it took the character to get home, in hours, minutes and seconds. As well as this the author tends to include a list of sorts in every chapter, which is unique as well. I believe this shows the mannerisms of the character even more, showing just how quirky their personality is. Yet as well as making the novel more interesting, rather than just blandly saying the things on the list or describing them.

Overall I believe that this novel will be a hit and I'm certain it won't leave people with a phobias of books. As for myself I cannot wait to read this, I've never read from this author before so it would be interesting to see what this novel is like. I believe the only thing which lacks is the cover for me, but that just could be a personal thing of mine. Yet I will be very much looking forward to seeing this book on a shelf soon.
