This book had me hooked by page 7. The way that Jonah and Esther meet is so adorable and a great start to a love/hate relationship. The solar family are also extremely kooky; Esther who goes out dressed as characters, Eugene who is scared of the dark, Peter who has confined himself to the basement and their mother, Rosemary who has turned into some likeness of a witch, not to mention the ghostly best friend.

It's clear that the family wasn't always unlucky but a series of unfortunate events and perhaps group paranoia has lead to a number of quirks that mean this book is sure to be a fantastic young-adult read. It's easy to relate to esther in some ways as everyone knows the feeling of being swindled or being let down when someone can't pick you up.

I can't wait to read this
