I normally love to read about gruesome murders and mysteries so this book was a nice change. Esther Solar is afraid of everything. Her family is afraid of everything. When she is pickpocketed by Jonah, former schoolmate, her life hits a new low. However, the adventure that follows changes her life in unimaginable ways.
Together with her brother, Eugene and her best friend, Hepzibah, Jonah takes them on a journey confronting Esther's fears, one by one.
The story touches on Esther's grandfather's dealing with Death himself and an unsolved murder case from his detective days.
As well as dealing with fears, it shows how phobias can take over your life and addictions affect everyone around the addict. How depression is the black dog that is so hard to shake off.
I really enjoyed this read about human frailties.
