This is definitely quirky and bold and rightfully unapologetic about it, which I personally found hilarious. It certainly defies convention and I feel highlights a growing number of people’s actual genuine and honest thoughts over a lot of Christmas traditions. The book has a educational and historical context which is naturally significant for such a age old celebrated religious holiday, with the added features of offering more modern and eco friendly options. Particularly liked the solidarity with the pine and the advise on some garden centres offering a rent a tree option over Christmas, just had to smile at the comment about giving a fir tree a holiday/change of scenery. The Christmas crackers were good too and reminded me that my mum had Christmas crackers that were for table decoration only, absolutely not to be ever used as they were so expensive. The book is well laid out and illustrated interestingly. Definitely a great idea if you remain open minded and willing to see the humour and the practical elements
