I really like the premise of the book but found the prologue confusing. It was disconcerting to find Prince Philip chatting away and I found myself trying to work out when the book was set as it clearly wasn't meant to be the present day. I then had trouble understanding why Sir Simon would be walking to Buckingham Palace when Kensington Palace has its own swimming pool and even more confused by signs of party activity attributed to young royals when Buck House is pretty much only occupied by staff.

I was also confused by the cartoon of Queen Victoria, rather than Elizabeth, on the cover but maybe that reference becomes obvious further in

By the time I got to chapter one, the writing style had changed to more of a script than a novel and was, I felt, less of a natural read as if the author had written it with the intention of getting the rights picked up for a tv series
