This book was so much better than I expected! I hadn't read the previous book based around the Queen and mysteries so I was a bit hesitant to pick this up but immediately I understood and grew attached to all the characters within the story. The tense start of the novel had more hooked and I was guessing what had happened the whole time I was reading it. I also really enjoyed the changing perspectives and seeing all their thoughts on what was happening in the palace. One of my favourite aspects was the relationship between the Queen and Rozie as they worked in secret to find out what had happened. In addition to Rozie's relationships with many other characters and although I had not read the previous novel I already understood her relationships with others and where she stood in the palace. I thought the pacing of the mystery was very well done and adding clues throughout kept me guessing the whole time!
Overall, this was a very interesting and enjoyable mystery so I cannot wait to see what else it included in this series!
