This book is written in a very “ royal” manner. The language used hits just the right tone, and you can well imagine the characters going about their business in the royal household. The amount of humour in the book hits just the right tone and is not derogatory in any way towards the royal family.
The characters are quite solid and believable. I can quite imagine that the queen has a very shrewd mind and a cheeky sense of humour. The supporting characters are also very well written and fully believable.
The story is very well paced and keeps the interest going without flagging as many books seem to do. I haven’t read such enjoyable fictional books about the royal family since Sue Townsend’s The Queen and I, Queen Camilla, etc.
The chapters are short enough for you to dip in and out of the book, thus making it more of a pleasure to read. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
