My kind of story

The cover of this book is so intriguing—the colours, the throne, the solitary feather—it simply screams pick me up, devour the magical world within me
I’m already curious about Aderyn as a main character—the fact that she has led a sheltered life after the death of her mother, and her need to engage in potentially reckless behaviour. There is much and more to learn about her character, and I think she will be a great character to see the events of this story unfold through.
I feel like there is more to her friend Letya than meets the eye. She arrived not long after Aderyn’s mother’s death to be her attendant, and is apparently flightless—which gives the authors the chance to do a little world building, and reveal that if the ruled are touched by the rulers it will cause the flightless pain. I’m left wondering after that tidbit if the pain is actual fact, and whether Letya is as flightless as Aderyn has been led to believe.
We also meet Lucien, and he definitely comes across as a bit of an arrogant tool, especially since he doesn’t know or believe Aderyn is the ruler which is understandable in those circumstances—I cannot wait to read the chapter where he finds out the truth; I’m sure the look on his face will be priceless. All that being said, I think it is pretty safe to assume that his arrogance will be toned down slowly until the reader loves him
I think it is safe to say this is my kind of story, and I will be reading it sooner or later (hopefully sooner).
