I was really anticipating this book and although it wasn't as good as other novels Ive read, I still really really enjoyed it. The world building and novels plot was really interesting and the inclusion of the map and family tree was definitely one of my favourite things (I adore any novel with these small but well thought details). The elite having the powers and the poor not having any is not a new idea, (red queen depicts it really well) however the different houses and the ideas behind the transformations were a unique touch. The storyline was great, holding my attention. The book was well written and the authors dual voices worked perfectly. Although it was not up to my expectations It was an amazing start to the series, the world building was so good and I look forward to reading the sequel, this will definitely be in my anticipated reads.
