I enjoyed 'A Woman Made of Snow', but felt that it could have been a novella. In parts, the story was a little repetitive and a shorter book would have made the plot much more engrossing.

My favourite parts of the story were about the ship's journey into the Arctic and about the huge cultural differences between an affluent man from Scotland and a remarkable young Innuit woman were overcome. I would have loved it if the book focused on this journey much more than the narrative of the mystery at the Kelly Castle.

That being said, I didn't see the twist coming when the identity of the body discovered on the grounds of the castle was revealed. Furthermore, the issue of the class divide was handled very well, showing how damaging prejudice can be. It results in a cruel betrayal and a tragedy that still had consequences a century later.

A decent read, with a good mystery at it's heart.
