I thoroughly enjoyed this. Based in two interesting settings - a Scottish castle and more unusual, the Arctic Circle, I liked how the chapters swapped between these two locations and timelines. Sometimes this can make reading difficult, but this wasn't the case. It was easy to read and follow and it maintained my interest easily. I also liked that the chapters weren't too long!
The story was a great family mystery and I enjoyed the discoveries made along the way. I didn't guess the identity of the buried body, and definitely found myself gripped at that stage of the story. It really picked up pace towards the end. I enjoyed reading about the family dynamics throughout the story and the strains between some of the characters.
The book cover is lovely and would definitely jump out at me. It would make a lovely gift too.
I haven't read Elisabeth Gifford before - The Lost Lights of St Kilda is now on my list of books to be read.
