This book started off very slow and was a bit hard going at first, it took a lot of getting into the plot and the characters. It seemed quite dragged out and had a lot to take in. The main character Caro, was a good female lead, a strong and confident woman on the outside, but inside was a bit dragged down by her mother-in-law. The last few chapters of the book seemed to get more interesting and the plot seemed to come together more as you learned more about the families history. The writing was ok, I prefer it to be gripping from the start, otherwise you could lose interest, but I am glad that I carried on and read all of the book as the ending was really good. I am not sure that the title of the book did it justice either, as it did not really give much about what the book was about, if I had just seen the title I am not sure I would have wanted to read it, but it turned out to be ok in the end.
