I read Chris Whitaker's other book, Tall Oaks, and I really liked it. So I had high hopes for this book too. However, I feel as though it just wasn't up to the same standard. This book felt dark and bleak, and the dialect used was quite hard to read. It was not as easy a read as his other book and was rather annoying at times.

It was a slow starting novel, but it did pick up about half way through and got better throughout. It didn't grip me but it was entertaining and provided a good story line.

As with the first book, a lot of characters were introduced relatively quickly and the story was a little hard to follow at first while I was still learning who they all were and what their role in the story was!
