Would it have been published if the Muslim aspect wasn’t accentuated?

Unfortunately this novel doesn’t live up to the promise of the synopsis or the first few chapters.
The prose is alright but the characters need more life and expansion as none of them are very believable. I liked the main plot but there were too many characters having an integral part in that and the sub plots which were unresolved until the end summary. I don’t know who the hero was meant to be Ayesha or Khalid and wonder if the book should have concentrated on just one of them telling the story of marriages, discrimination, fraud, revenge, banished offspring, arranged marriages, abductions, pornography, self-indulgent relatives and a twenty eight year old rookie teacher. A bit too much for one book in a short passage of time.
Sorry but my recommendation is that you don’t waste your time.
