The prologue was frightening. I was sucked into the story from the first line, completely captivated. I felt like I was standing beside the killer, watching as he buried the girl's body. Then the tone of the novel completely changed, shifting from emotionless and distant to probing and mournful, as it delved into Naomi's thoughts and her reasons for wanting to end her life. The setting on the cliff was expertly described, and I could empathise with Naomi, knowing that she was completely convinced that she had no one and nowhere to turn to. The description of the town was suffocating - I as a reader understood why Naomi felt she had to escape the town, and experienced her frustration and exhaustion. The foreshadowing of the story was excellent. I could feel the tension building, and already began to suspect what would happened next. A haunting read, definitely want to read what happens next.
