Alfie is woken one night by his twin daughters, who announce to him that “Daddy, there’s a man in our room”. Of course, Alfie is worried and goes to check but finds no trace of an intruder.
The twins mother and Alfie’s partner, Pippa, died suddenly 9 months previously, so Alfie blames the twins upset on this. However, when the twins continue to say they’ve seen the man, who they call Black Mamba, and strange things start to happen, Alfie turns to Pippa’s twin, Julia, who is a psychotherapist, for help.
I loved this book, it was very unsettling and atmospheric. The characters were well written and the story moved along at a perfect pace, never rushed or drawn out, it was a “just one more chapter “ kind of a read.
The ending, for me, was a little ambiguous. I’m hoping this means there will be a sequel- I would queue overnight to buy it!
Many thanks to Readers First and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book.
