This book wasn't what I was expecting, not in a negative sense but it went a completely different direction from my expectations. It was well written and flowed easily, I guessed some of the twists along the way but it felt as though the overarching plot was the focus to keep us guessing. The ending was ambiguous and left a lot to the imagination for the reader, I think this added to the story as throughout it was left quite murky as to why Black Mamba was around and if he was a creation by the girls or a truly paranormal entity.

Alfie was an unlikeable character, although I feel like that is the point of him and a true show of how the alcohol affects him and although I understand he is grieving for Pippa, his actions neglected his children when they had also lost their mother. Later in the book, he does try to redeem himself however, something about him does still irk me. The rest of the characters were complex and well-rounded to allow for the plot to be veiled in reality.
