I can well see why this book was endorsed by the writer Wilbur Smith foundation as this adventure novel reminded me very much of the stories written by Wilbur Smith.
It was refreshing to read a story set in the early nineteenth century in Australia during the many gold rushes. This tale follows the story about the O'Rourke family and how a sudden devastating event affects all their lives. I very much liked the two principal characters of Tobias and Patrick O'Rourke.
I thought it was well written and a real page turner. My only criticism would be that for me I would have liked the ending to have been more descriptive or perhaps the author intends there t be a sequel!
So, on the whole a good read and I look forward to reading the next novel by this author.
