I did like the writing style, however historical fiction is generally not something I enjoyed within this book. Set in 1670 in London, the novel is centred around Colonel Thomas Blood. His mission: stealing the Crown Jewels. One thing that makes the book worth reading is the sense of foreboding as Thomas risks his own life, and the lives of his family.
The main reason I won't be reading another of his books was the incredibly slow start which was also quite confusing. There are multiple narrators which I found it hard to wrap my head around, although this became easier the more I read and got to know the characters.
This book is the beginning of a series of books, although I will not be reading any more by this author.
