Newly qualified vet arrives at a London practice, thinking he knows everything..... a kind of All Creatures Great & Small for the 1970s. He chose to come to London from Canada because he thought we spoke the same language.... we don't.
I expected this to be a book of hilarious anecdotes about his patients and their owners, and yes there were some funny stories. And some sad ones. And some that made me angry. One thing that did make me happy was that Dr Fogle was one of the names behind getting Harrods to stop selling wild animals. There's a fair bit of name-dropping as the practice was frequented by many famous names, including the actress that our vet later marries...... which brought about far too many showbizzy tales for my liking.
While this is an okay book, it took me a long time to read- most unlike me- simply because I wasn't as excited to get back to it as I am with most books. Sorry Dr Fogle.
