I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was moving, entertaining and gripping all at once. Fogle provides a glimpse into society London in the 1970's which is rarely portrayed with such honesty. I think his fresh and outside perspective as an immigrant from Canada has an honesty and warmth which makes him and everyone he meets so complex yet likeable, although he seems understandably a bit hesitant to be too critical of others. The stories are entertaining and the eccentric characters, human and otherwise, are irresistible. I enjoyed that Fogle was self-analytical, verging on self-critical at points. It meant we were able to understand the views of the time and how they've changed over time as the profession developed. All in all, an excellent read. Informative, entertaining and enlightening, I really enjoyed everything this book had to offer. The perfect Christmas gift for any animal lover!
